The Mattara Festival is a long established iconic event that enjoys a special place in the memories of the Newcastle community.
Mattara will conduct a popular maritime theme in conjunction with the National Maritime Festival to promote Newcastle and the Link of the two Festivals on the 12th October.

The Mattara Committee welcomes you to the regions largest annual Spring Festival which brings over 35 000 people to the city of Newcastle.

The Mattara Committee is honored in being partners in presenting the Mattara Festival of Newcastle 2008, and hope you enjoy the Mattara Experience along with us.

ENDEAVOUR COMES TO NEWCASTLE

Take an amazing journey through Australia's history 9-12 October 2008

Visit the magnificent replica of Captain Cook's famous vessel of discovery. You will see the huge state-of-the-art (1768 ) iron stove, the Great Cabin where Cook and Banks and others worked, relaxed and ate together on their three year voyage.

Try to relax on the mess deck where the sailors slept shoulder to shoulder.
