Feature: The Djembellas
Saturday 1st Oct 2.30pm Sunday 2nd Oct 4.00pm
Drumming breaks down social barriers, promotes freedom of expression, unity and co-operation. It energises the spirit and awakens feelings of excitement, peace and ecstasy.
The Djembellas are a new, all girls drumming group. Our homes stretch from far and wide, but we all currently call Newcastle home. We are an assorted bunch, but all have one thing in common – we LOVE drumming and dancing. So get your groove on and come and join us!
The Djembellas offer a unique performance and interactive workshop sharing the music of West Africa. First enjoy an awaking of the spirit as you watch an all women’s drumming group perform a selection of traditional West African rhythms.
